It would give the Ravens the legitimate receiving threat they have sought after for what seems like an eternity.
Boldin would make what is now an average offense into a legitimate threat offense. He is a big body receiver who is known for his physicality which will tie right into what Baltimore is all about. If they can't get this deal done now, it might be too late for the Ravens. The defense is aging, and the window may be closing.
The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly meeting with Brandon Marshall in Seattle and are in discussions with the Denver Broncos about trading for the disgruntled wide receiver.
If something is able to be done, they may just lose a quarterback, because Matt Hasselbeck could suffer a heart attack. I know I would if I were given those kind of targets.
We all know that Seattle was active last year in free agency when they went out and signed TJ Houshmandzadeh from the Cincinnati Bengals. Houshmandzadeh's production wasn't what Seattle had hoped for, but I never thought he was a number one receiver on his own.
Brandon Marshall is, and will give the Seahawks the perfect complimentary receiver to allow "Housh" to run free as he did in Cincinnati alongside Chad Ochocinco.
Little tidbit here. Former Broncos' receiving coach Jedd Fisch is on Pete Carroll's staff in Seattle and should have an inside look into Marshall.
The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that they have released linebacker Will Witherspoon.
Witherspoon was acquired by Philadelphia at the trade deadline last year in exchange for Brandon Gibson and a fifth round draft choice in April's draft.
It may come as s shock initially, but the sting lessens for Eagle fans as you learn more. Witherspoon, who filled in admirably, is due $5 million in each of the next two seasons. With Akeem Jordan sitting on the roster who is much younger and not a huge downgrade, if any, under Witherspoon, and comes at a much cheaper price.
My main issue is, that if you planned on releasing him, not to say they did, why do you trade a potential-packed wide receiver in Brandon Gibson who showed flashes in St. Louis this year, along with a fifth round pick. (I'm sure we all remember a certain guy known as Trent Cole who was found in the fifth round. If not, maybe you know Brent Celek?)
The Atlanta Falcons have signed Dunta Robinson to a six-year contract. No numbers are available as of now.
It's a move that was inevitable after lurking around the technology in the wee hours of Friday morning as free agency kicked off.
He had gained interest from other teams, but it was clear that he wanted to be in Atlanta.
Robinson will become the immediate starter opposite of up-and-comer, Brent Grimes or Chris Houston. Either way, Robinson adds some serious depth to that defensive backfield.
