Peppers is expected to be in Chicago early to discuss a contract, and the Bears have been very clear that they are not planning on letting him leave without a contract in place.
The Bears are in a tough place this free agency period with the lack of a first or second round pick, and are in a prime position to overpay for the guy they want.
That guy is Julius Peppers.
The deal should be one that will best the deal given to Albert Haynesworth last off-season by the Washington Redskins.
When the deal is in place, expect it to be along the lines of six or seven years, worth anywhere from $110-$115 million with $45-$50 million guaranteed.
The Bears are in desperation mode with no picks until the third round, and must make a splash and build through free agency.
