Right now, however, he's creating a lot of animosity for himself amongst the fans of San Diego and, perhaps more importantly, the front office and coaching staff of the Chargers.
With his skill declining and Darren Sproles emerging more and more as the Chargers' first running option, LT has said that he "would not take a pay cut under any circumstances." He then went on to vent about the mindset of the younger plays in the league.
"Things were always there that happened over time," he said. "I didn't feel the unity and the togetherness in the locker room. We're at a point where guys come into the league and it's not about the same values anymore. I just can't deal with that kind of stuff."
With a $2 million roster bonus due in March, it is highly unlikely that LT will be a Charger in 2010 -- a less-than-perfect ending to LT's time in San Diego and, perhaps, his NFL career.
