He says the Eagles have told him that they feel like they're "in a luxury position" with their quarterbacks and are not going to be in a rush to move any of their three quarterbacks.
All three are entering the final year of their contracts which will force the Eagles to make a decision sooner rather than later.
Andy Reid has already said that Donovan McNabb will be his quarterback, so if Kevin Kolb is not traded Vick would enter the season as the third-string quarterback yet again. He does get his three to five snaps per game out of the Eagles' version of the Wildcat, but he's looking to become a starter and is no longer happy with his small piece of the pie.
It seems unlikely that the Eagles pay their third-string quarterback $5.2 million, and there's no way that Vick will take a pay cut. So the Eagles have only two options if they do not trade him: A) keep Vick and his high salary or B) allow him to enter free agency.
Option "B" isn't really an option, so it comes down to either trade him or eat up his salary.
What the Eagles do remains to be seen, but my guess is that the team is simply leaking false information in an effort to drive up the asking price. An effort at which they may succeed.
