Is Torry Holt the Chicago Bears Next Free Agent Target?

The Chicago Bears came out and made a huge splash in free agency when they signed right end Brandon Manumaleuna, running back Chester Taylor, and the biggest of all, defensive end Julius Peppers.

The free agent frenzy in Chicago should come as no surprise when you factor in the Bears not having a pick in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. They have no choice but to build through free agency, but what is their next move?

Torry Holt sure hopes that it is signing him.

Holt has been lobbying for the Bears to sign him ever since his former Head Coach during his St. Louis days, Mike Martz, was signed to be the Bears offensive coordinator.

Holt believes that the fit is obvious because of his knowledge of Martz's system during the days of the "Greatest Show on Turf".

The Bears boast a young receiving corps, which Holt could prove to be a great mentor for. If the Bears can convince Holt to take a more back-seat role to the younger guys on the roster and serve as a mentor while also balancing in his playing time, this could be a great move for the Bears.

While Jay Cutler is no Kurt Warner, Matt Forte is no Marshall Faulk, and no one on the team is similar to Isaac Bruce in his hay day, if the Bears can get half of the production that happened in St. Louis, watch out. Even a scaled down version of the offense put together by the Rams is better than the current Bears offense.

Holt obviously wants to be in Chicago, and with Holt being so intent on going there, Chicago would be wise to try and bring in the veteran receiver, and future Hall of Famer to help out this offense. They can use all they help they can get.
