Could Kirk Morrison Be on His Way Out of Oakland?

He's not an unrestricted free agent, and does boast a third-round tender, but Kirk Morrison could be on his way out of Oakland soon.

The five-year linebacker said on Thursday that a "few" teams had contacted him about an offer-sheet, but he did not release any names. I think there is a lot of teams that could use a 27 year old middle linebacker in the prime of his career.

Morrison has never had less than 91 tackles in a season, and that one was his rookie season. Since then, he has eclipsed 100 twice, and had his best year as a pro in 2009 with 109 tackles and three forced fumbles.

With no teams specifically mentioned, it leads you to speculation.

The Giants have to be one of the teams that come to mind. They released their starting middle linebacker, Antonio Pierce, leaving the middle of that defense wide open. Morrison can fill that hole.

There are plenty of teams that can be thrown into the Morrison mix, but he will still require a third round pick if the Raiders don't match. The Raiders should not be content accepting a third rounder for Morrison should he be signed to an offer sheet, but we are talking about the Raiders.

It would be an absolute steal for any team to get Morrison for only a third round draft pick. Teams should be jumping at this opportunity.
