LaDainian Tomlinson is Keeping His Options Open

It has been widely reported that LaDainian Tomlinson was inevitably going to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, but as more and more time passes, that's beginning to look less likely to happen.

Tomlinson was in Minnesota on Wednesday and he had dinner with Brad Childress and other higher-ups in the organization. He left the meeting with nothing but positives, and thought it would be a "blast" to play with Brett Favre.

However, Tomlinson has since left Minnesota without a contract, and has visited with the New York Jets. He is also reported to have meetings scheduled with the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints after the Jets.

Tomlinson has made it clear that he does not need to be the starter and is willing, and would prefer, to take a back-seat role as the third down back. Taking a quick peek at where LT has visited, and is planning to visit, it seems to be true.

It's clear what Tomlinson's intentions are. He wants to win a championship. Every team on his travel-sheet was in the playoffs last season, and one of them is the defending Super Bowl champions. Tomlinson wants to win, and he is keeping his options open to make the right choice.

Any of these teams would be lucky to have Tomlinson behind their current starter, but only if they can get him for the right price. The former MVP and future Hall of Famer has clearly lost a step, so let's hope his asking price falls in line with his acceptance to be a back-up.
