Final NFL Power Rankings

Here are the final set of Power Rankings for this NFL Season. The power rankings are derived using a unique formula putting emphasis on all facets of the game with certain categories having more impact on your team than other categories. Division games are important, as well as winning on the road.

The Formula = (Winning % X .31) + (Average Points For X .04) + (Net Points X .06) + (Home Win % X .06) + (Road Win % X .09) + (Division Win % X .13) + (Win % Last 5 X .24) + (Yards For X .02) + ((100-yards Against) X .05)

1. San Diego Chargers - 74.782

They're playing the best football out there right now. I would argue that some teams may want to play the Colts right now, rather than travel to San Diego who is riding an 11 game win streak. However, can they carry the momentum through a bye week?

2. Green Bay Packers - 67.950

While the Chargers are playing the best ball in the league, the Packers are playing some of the best football in the NFC. They beat up on the Cardinals pretty handily, and even though Warner was taken out, the Pack held a 14-0 lead while Warner was in. The rematch happens this weekend, and the Packers already know they can beat Arizona in Glendale.

3. Indianapolis Colts - 67.077

Well, the bad news is that once Peyton decides to hang it up, they could be in trouble. The good news is, Peyton Manning isn't doing that anytime soon, and isn't going to be sitting in the playoffs. We've seen what has happened before with the Colts resting starters. Hopefully they can change their fortunes.

4. Minnesota Vikings - 61.372

They had a few slip ups, but rebounded nicely last week at home. They retained the number two seed, and should have a clear mind heading into the divisional round of the playoffs. Brett Favre has had one of his best years under center, and if the offensive line can keep him upright, he should have a good playoff performance.

5. New Orleans Saints - 59.483

They've lost three in a row heading into a bye week. Granted, the third was without a few starters. Mainly starting quarterback Drew Brees, but going three straight weeks without a win, and then sitting an extra one on top of that cannot be easy to deal with. The Saints need to improve on that 25th ranked defense in the regular season to have a shot in the postseason.

6. Dallas Cowboys - 58.922

They can be argued to be the best team in the NFC right now, and they just handed division rival, Philadelphia, a season sweep and a shutout. The two will rematch on Sunday, and the Cowboys will have to win a third straight game against a talented Philadelphia team. It should be one heck of a football game this Saturday night.

7. Philadelphia Eagles - 58.916

That was a very poor performance in Dallas. I saw a surplus of basic playcalling on both the offensive and defensive side of the football. It's almost as if the Eagles did not want the second seed and were perfectly content on not showing Dallas a gameplan and they would take their chances on a rematch.

8. New England Patriots - 54.675

Uh-oh. Maybe that's why you do rest your starters? Wes Welker has been officially ruled out for the season, and there was no doubt in my mind that was the case as I watched the play live. They're a different team without him, and could face a possible first round exit at the ands of a dangerous Raven team.

9. New York Jets - 50.761

They took it to the Bengals on Sunday night to seal themselves in the playoffs. They travel to Cincinnati this time for the Wildcard rematch. Another wildcard rematch? This is a team that can make some noise if Mark Sanchez is not asked to put the ball in the air to win the game. If they can establish the run, and a lead, that defense is superb.

10. Baltimore Ravens - 50.734

All you got to do is get in the tournament. The Ravens are a team that can cause some major damage in the AFC playoffs. They should gain All-Pro safety, Ed Reed, back when they travel to face the Welker-less Patriots, and could very well pull off the upset. A scary team.

11. Arizona Cardinals - 47.965

12. Carolina Panthers - 47.805

13. Houston Texans - 47.591

14. Cincinnati Bengals - 46.046

15. San Francisco 49ers - 44.048

16. Pittsburgh Steelers - 43.864

17. Atlanta Falcons - 42.155

18. New York Giants - 34.580

19. Tennessee Titans - 31.985

20. Chicago Bears - 31.332

21. Miami Dolphins - 29.838

22. Denver Broncos - 29.414

23. Buffalo Bills - 22.521

24. Cleveland Browns - 18.761

25. Jacksonville Jaguars - 18.746

26. Seattle Seahawks - 11.566

27. Oakland Raiders - 8.888

28. Kansas City Chiefs - 6.344

29. Washington Redskins - 5.172

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 3.254

31. Detroit Lions - (-17.029)

32. St. Louis Rams - (-20.606)
