Eagles Running Back Westbrook Expected To Play Sunday

Amidst all the negativity surrounding the Eagles injury news and Joselio Hanson being suspended, good news has seeped its way through to the surface.

Brian Westbrook is expected to play this Sunday when the Eagles travel to San Diego to play the Chargers.

Westbrook, who missed the past two games with a concussion he suffered in a game against the Washington Redskins, is listed as probable, but when asked about Westbrook's status, Head Coach Andy Reid responded with "Playing."

With Akeem Jordan and Kevin Curtis already ruled out, and injuries along with the suspension of Joselio Hanson decimating the secondary, the Eagles were in dire need of something positive to come there way.

Westbrook, who has been splitting time with rookie, LeSean McCoy, should expect a similar situation this Sunday despite good numbers this season.

He has carried the ball 41 times for an average of 4.8 yards per carry, while also contributing to 17 receptions and 130 yards to the passing game, but this won't be the biggest spot Westbrook will help.

You may have heard of a guy by the name of Shawne Merriman. Merriman started the season without a sack, but through that past two games, he has four and is starting to look like the Shawne Merriman of old.

Westbrook is a tremendous blocker in the backfield as a running back, and with left tackle, Jason Peters, listed as questionable, the Eagles will need all the help they can get to protect Donovan McNabb.
