Peter King Thinks Quinn Is Gone Before 2010

After Brady Quinn got the hook after only a couple games as the Browns starter, it appeared as though his time in Cleveland was going to end the same way his underachieving receiver's career with the team had.

Most assumed he'd get traded before this week's trade deadline, which by the way, is Tuesday. However, at the moment he's a very cheap backup and most likely will be kept until the end of 2009.

2010 will certainly be a different story.

According to Peter King, speaking as a matter-of-fact, the former first round pick will not be a Brown next season. King suspects that the Browns have had enough of Quinn, considering this new regime isn't responsible for the underachieving quarterback, and will attempt to move him during the offseason.

It's not a real stretch for King to assume that BQ's time is up, as most would tend to agree. The Browns new regime obviously doesn't like Quinn as a quarterback or a person, and the most likely reason for him starting the season is because of Randy Lerner, who gave the go-ahead to move up in the draft and pick this kid.

He's signing the checks, he made the investment, so he wanted to give it a go.

It looks like the franchise and the city have given up on him, and for good reason. He's not a leader, and he can't play quarterback. To me, those are pretty good reasons to give up on the guy.

Derek Anderson, even though he's not having a great year by any standards, commands respect in that locker room because of what he has done for that team in the past, and because he carries himself as a leader.

Brady Quinn does not. He comes off more like a child who can't adjust to life in the pros, and needs to serve some time as a backup somewhere before he can mature into a real quarterback.

We'll see, but for now, BQ is a bust.

(I love the picture, by the way, because it looks like Quinn is getting ready for the gear he'll be sporting once he's a former NFL quarterback. Maybe he should go talk to Bernie Kosar about what not to do after the NFL, since he's now been brought on as an "extra pair of eyes.")
