Fantasy Shiners and Sleepers: Week Seven

Here is the Week Seven installment of my fantasy shiners and sleepers. Check back each week for more fantasy picks, and throughout the week for your NFL news and rumors.

Quarterbacks

Top - Peyton Manning vs St. Louis

I was up in the air on this pick. Tossing my thoughts between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but I obviously went with Peyton. While Tom is coming off one of the greatest performance I've seen, he's been inconsistent throughout 2009. Manning, on the other hand, has been stellar in every game outside of the week one matchup with Jacksonville, but even then he was still able to eclipse 300 yards. St. Louis shouldn't put up too much of a fight.

Sleeper - Kurt Warner vs NY Giants

I might catch some flack for this, but it's what I'm going with. While some may argue that the Cardinals are no Saints, they can both equally put up monstrous performances offensively. Kurt Warner seems to have lost a step, and is not on the same level as Drew Brees, but Kurt is throwing to much, much, much better targets. The Saints layed out the blueprint last weekend in their win over New York, and Ken Wisenhunt is more than capable of putting together a solid offensive gamplan to put up similar numbers.

Running Backs

Top
- DeAngelo Williams vs Buffalo

Sure, he is all but splitting carries with Jonathan Stewart, but he's playing the Bills. The same Bills that give up 180 yards on the ground every game. In all honesty, if you have either Panther running back, start him. Williams is just under 400 yards, and has four scores on the season. With Jake Delhomme's lack of success and Steve Smith not being involved in the offense, running is the only thing to do.

Sleeper - Ronnie Brown vs New Orleans

While Ronnie Brown may be one of the best running backs in this league, he's still not getting the attention he deserves down in Miami. Maybe it's because he gets majority of his carries out of the wildcat, rather than traditional hand-off. A carry is a carry and Ronnie Brown has the Dolphins as the top rushing team in the NFL this season and despite New Orleans recent defensive showings, it's been in the passing department. I expect Miami to try and slow the game down much like the way they did against the Colts when they controlled the ball for 3 full quarters.

Wide Receivers

Top
- Larry Fitzgerald vs NY Giants

I've gotten myself in trouble before when I've gone with a WR-QB combo in my fantasy picks, but oh well, I'm doing it again. Fitzgerald has 179 yards receiving and three touchdowns over the past two weeks and is looking like he's shaken off the "madden curse" that plagued his almost porr performances to start the season. While he may not have been producing, Warner still looks for him,a nd it's only a matter of time before the 6'3" receiver out jumps you and makes a fantastic catch.

Sleeper - Terrell Owens vs Carolina

Terrell Owens? This guys is still in the NFL? Yes, I know these were your initial thoughts, but yes, T.O. actually plays for the Buffalo Bills. Shocking. I know. I think the change of quarterback will do some good things for Owens, and he'll be able to get into a little bit of a rythm. Fitzpatrick will bring a much needed change of scenery to the football field for Terrell Owens.

Tight Ends

Top
- Tony Gonzalez vs Dallas

I always pick him, he always delivers. Nothing should change this week when the Falcons take on the Dallas Cowboys. Gonzalez is still the best tight end in the game and should be able to put out a solid showing against the Cowboys.

Sleeper - Visanthe Shiancoe vs Pittsburgh

With the pressure that Pittsburgh brings, Brett Favre is going to be looking to dump the ball of very quickly. Who better to look for than the tight end, Shiancoe. Tight ends are always referred to as the quarterbacks safety blanket, and that shouldn't change this week.
