Trent Edwards Out In Buffalo; Fitzpatrick Gets The Start

If enough wasn't going wrong for the Bills already, they've learned that they will be without starting quarterback, Trent Edwards, this Sunday when the Bills take on the Panthers.

Back-up quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start.

Fitzpatrick came in to replace Edwards when he went down in last weeks win over the Jets, but left much to be desired with his play.

Fitzpatrick completed only 10 out of 25 pass attempts and only totaled 100 yards. He had one interception, but did throw the game tying touchdown to Lee Evans late in the 3rd quarter.

A win is a win.

The Bills will only hope that Fitzpatrick can do what Edwards was not able to accomplish thus far this season. Get Terrell Owens involved in the offense, and if that goal is completed, get a win on Sunday.

Owens only has 15 receptions for 215 yards and a touchdown, but has been virtually non-existent in Buffalo's offense.

Fitzpatrick may not be seen as an upgrade over Edwards, but ever since gaining the starting role in Buffalo, Trent Edwards has been less than mediocre.

Edwards is often referred to as "captain check down" in the Buffalo area, referring to his unbearable to watch ability to hit the check down receiver.

Problem? He does it on almost every pass play.

With receivers such as Lee Evans and Terrell Owens on the outside, the Bills should have a very strong deep passing game, and be able to stretch the field at will.

The Bills shouldn't be expecting much, because the bar was not set high by Trent Edwards.

If Fitzpatrick can find a way to get the ball deep, he should win over the hearts of the Buffalo faithful in no time.
