How Does Pete Carroll Feel About Mark Sanchez's Decision Now?

I'm sure you all remember, but on the chance that you don't I'll refresh your memory. Out of all the critics of Mark Sanchez as he entered the NFL Draft earlier this year, none were bigger than than of his own college coach, Pete Carroll.

Carroll made it known to all that he was not happy with Sanchez's decision to declare for the NFL Draft because he wasn't "ready", but is this the real reason?

I believed it then, and I believe it to this day that Carroll saw his 2009-2010 National Title hopes follow Sanchez right out the door when he left, and Carroll was bitter.

Now, sure Carroll has lost many starting quarterbacks to the NFL before, but this time was different.

This time, he didn't have anyone to glide right in like nothing ever happened.

Carson Palmer turned into Matt Leinart. Matt Leinart turned into John David Booty. John David Booty Turned into Mark Sanchez.

None of these guys stepping in were freshman, and certainly were not true freshman.

I mean, you certainly can't fault Carroll too much for wanting to have Sanchez back. He has history to compete with now.

Since the NCAA reinstituted freshman eligibility for athletes in 1972, the number of true freshmen quarterbacks to start the season and lead their school to a national title is... (Drumroll please)

Zero. Not a single one.

There was only one who even led his team to the national championship game.

Regardless of the media, or Pete Carroll or anybody, it appears as though Mark Sanchez was the only one who was correct.

He was ready for the leap to the biggest stage in football.

Thus far, Sanchez has led the Jets to a 2-0 start with a huge win this past Sunday over the New England Patriots, and it doesn't get easier when they take on Tennessee this weekend.

Sanchez is 32 of 53 for a completion percentage of 60.4 with 435 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception with a quarterback rating of 91.3.

He's looked nothing like a rookie who has only made 2 starts in his NFL career.

Cool, calm and collected in the pocket. He's the leader in that huddle.

And as has been said numerous times since the beginning of the training camp, he has "it". Just that prowess and demeanor you need to be a winning quarterback in the NFL.

The Jets have something good going for them, and Pete Carroll can do nothing but sit back and watch the man he couldn't keep succeed in the NFL.
