Oakland's Woes Lie In Russell's Mind, Not His Arm

According to the Contra Costa Times, Jamarcus Russell has openly said that he is satisfied with his progress as a quarterback int he NFL, but he's still seeking improvement.

Well, there's your problem staring you right in the face.

After being heavily booed in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos to drop the Oakland Raiders to 1-2 on the season, Russell had the audacity to tell the media that he is satisfied.

Regardless of the fact that he seeks improvement, satisfied is never a word you use to describe yourself as a player in the NFL, even well after you've retired.

You could've completed more of those passes, you could've pulled the ball down instead of taking a chance and throwing that pick, you could've won a few more games.

Anything, but you're never satisfied.

Your goal is to be the best, and satisfied is just not a word that can be used when you're striving to get better as a player or a person.

Sure, the guy admitted he can get better, we all can. But if he has it set in his mind that he's done enough to be satisfied, than it Will hinder his performance to get better.

He will push himself to get better in practice, but with satisfaction clouding his brain, it may hold him back from going that extra mile, or staying those extra few minutes in practice or a film session.

I mean, he's satisfied, he doesn't need those extra few minutes.

If Jamarcus is satisfied, than the Raiders have a much bigger problem than a sub 50 completion percentage.
