Torry Holt-Mike Martz Could Reunite in Chicago

We wrote an article here about a week ago stating how much sense it would make if Torry Holt would join his former coach Mike Martz in Chicago.

Apparently, Torry Holt agrees with us. Holt was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday after just one year with the team.

Holt expressed his interest to play with the Bears now that Mike Martz has taken over the offensive coordinator position.

"Absolutely I would consider coming to Chicago because of Coach Martz," Holt said Friday on ESPN 1000. Holt also said that he's been in contact with Martz, even though Martz last coached Holt in 2005.

WE all remember their years together in St. Louis. The "Greatest Show on Turf", as the offense was dubbed, was one of the best offenses of all time, if not the best.

While Jay Cutler is no Kurt Warner, Matt Forte is no Marshall Faulk, and no one on the team is similar to Isaac Bruce in his hay day, if the Bears can get half of the production that happened in St. Louis, watch out. Even a scaled down version of the offense put together in St. Louis is better than the current Bears offense.

With Devin Hester losing snaps to make a return as the Bears star return man once again, the Bears could surely use a new receiver, and a veteran one at that.

With Devin Aromashodu highlighting the receiving squad as the oldest receiver at 25, a veteran of Holts caliber could work wonders on this young squad. A squad that boasts, in addition to Aromashodu, two players that were rookies last year, and Earl Bennett heading into his third year as a 22 year old.

Devin Hester is 27, but his role will be lessened on offense as we've said before, and Rashied Davis (30) amassed only five catches in 2009.

Holt's interest in Chicago is apparent, but does Chicago share the same fondness? It's a story to keep your eye on this off-season. Martz will certainly lobby to get his former player, and future Hall-of-Famer, into his offense.
