St. Louis Rams Expected to Release Quarterback Marc Bulger

Marc Bulger's scheduled $8.5 million salary for 2010 appears to be too much for the Rams, and they are expected to release Bulger sometime in the next two and half weeks (before March 5th).

Releasing Bulger will do nothing but further the thought that Michael Vick is already a Ram, and that the team is just sitting in wait until the March 5th starting point when trades can begin.

As it stands, Kyle Boller and Keith Null are behind Bulger on the depth chart, and common knowledge says there's no way head coach Steve Spagnuolo heads into the 2010 season with those guys battling for the starting spot.

It is possible that Boller could provide some competition to Vick if he's brought in, but that's about it and it would take an incredible showing by Boller.

My gut tells me that the Rams are going to trade for Vick and then attempt to either move back into the late first round (after drafting Ndamukong Suh with the first overall pick) and snag a quarterback. Or, they could just sit in the second round and draft a guy like Jevan Snead.

Their ideal situation would probably be to trade out of that first spot, but there are rarely any takers for it. This season could be different with Suh becoming the clear-cut best player available, but the money that goes into will scare teams away every time.

I'm not exactly sure what the Rams will do in the draft, but Bulger will certainly not be the Rams quarterback in 2010.
