Browns Say They Intend to Use Josh Cribbs More On Offense

At a time when the Cleveland Browns and Josh Cribbs are negotiating a new contract, it's a bit surprising that they would let their plans to use him more on the offensive side of the ball leak to the public.

If we know about it, then that means Cribbs and his agent, J.R. Rickert know about it.

This will do nothing but drive up the asking price from their side of the table, and could create a stalemate in negotiations. It's difficult enough to negotiate with a guy who has a set position, much less a utility guy like Cribbs.

This deal could, however, set a precedent for guys like Cribbs and create a certain pay scale for utility players like the MLB has.

Using Cribbs more is a very good idea for the Browns. He could very well be their best weapon, and getting the ball into his hands is never a bad idea. Screens, the Wild Cat, slants, reverses, end-arounds, etc. are all great ways of having this guy play an integral part in the offense.

"Pay Da Man" has become "Use Da Man... But First Pay Da Man Accordingly." Long name, but no less effective.
