Dunta Robinson Will Not Be a Texan in 2010

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Houston Texans do not plan on using the franchise tag on cornerback Dunta Robinson for the second consecutive season.

Outside of Leigh Bodden, Robinson will be the only corner worthwhile to hit the market in this thin crop of players. That will probably result in him getting incredibly overpaid sometime on the morning of March 5th.

Teams aren't going to wait to make a move for a player this year. They understand that there are 32 teams going after one guy at each position, so deals are going to get done quickly.

Dominic Foxworth was given a four-year, $28 million deal from the Ravens when he was the only guy on the market, and he's nowhere near Robinson's caliber. Robinson is a guy who can stick with most of the No. 1 receivers that the league has to offer, so he could command close to $9 million per season from a desperate team.

March 5th can't come soon enough.
