Chiefs To Release Troubled Running Back Johnson

Just days after events came to the surface that Kansas City Chiefs running back ripped apart the teams Head Coach, Todd Haley, a source close to the team is releasing that the team will cut ties with their former first round selection of the 2003 draft.

The problematic Johnson ripped his head coach saying that his father, Larry Johnson Sr., had more coaching credentials than Haley, and he later used a gay slur.

This is not the first time that a gay slur has slipped from the mouth of Johnson, as he got himself in trouble last season for the same offense.

He was forced to apologize by the team for the negative comments made towards Haley, as well as the slur, and Haley has avoided comment and has refused thus far.

Yesterday, Johnson was sent home from team facilities and was "banned" from any contact with the team. While the Chiefs said this was not a formal suspension, it was, it just wasn't called a "suspension".

The ban is just a move to keep Johnson away until the team formally cuts ties with him, which the source said should be by the end of the week.

Johnson is still going through the disciplinary investigation set forth by the league.

The former Nittany Lion standout has spent all seven season of his career in Kansas City, where he rushed for just under 6,000 yards and 55 touchdowns for the Chiefs.

He has just 358 yards on 132 carries and no touchdowns thus far in 2009, so the Chiefs won't be losing much production.
