Eagles Will Attempt to Trade Baskett, Sign Runyan

With the news of Shawn Andrews being placed on IR coming down just a few minutes ago, the Eagles will need some depth behind Winston Justice, who has entrenched himself as the starter for the 2009 season.

In order to do that, the Eagles are going to look at signing Runyan, but don't want to be caught in limbo with the roster as they were when they agreed to a deal with Jeff Garcia. So, in order to avoid that, they will look to trade Hank Baskett either today or tomorrow.

There's really no rush to trade the receiver in order to make room for Runyan because the Eagles know Runyan could step in Sunday morning and be just fine if he were called upon. The problem with time will come if Runyan starts getting offers from other teams and turns the heat up on the Eagles.

If for some reason Runyan would spurn the Eagles in the same way A.J. Feeley did, the Eagles would most likely keep the roster the way it is, and just kick Stacy Andrews out to right tackle if it came down to that.

However, don't be shocked if this move goes down later today or sometime tomorrow. There's a market for Baskett, it's just going to come down to how stingy the Eagles are in the compensation they receive for him.
