A new deal would not be an extension, but would instead replace Cribbs' existing deal.
The Browns have already said they plan to use the electrifying return man in about 50-60 percent of the offensive snaps in 2010, rather than the 40 percent he saw in 2009.
The deal is expected to get done during the scouting combine in Indianapolis. A lot of agents see it as an opportunity to catch all the most important guys in one place and makes it easier to hammer out a deal.
Cribbs is reportedly asking for $10 million in guaranteed money, while the Browns are offering $5 million. They'll probably wind up compromising around $6-7 million and a base salary of $3-4 million.
If Sebastian Janikowsi, a kicker, is worth that much, than Cribbs is certainly worth that number.
