Tauscher will not fix the line right away, but a veteran presence, and a guy who has been an elite lineman in this league, will certainly help get this patchwork group in order.
Hopefully they can keep Aaron Rodgers on his feet for, you know, one or two plays per game.
Is that a lot to ask?
With a real offensive line, Rodgers can do real damage throwing to three very talented wide receivers in Donal Driver, James Jones, and one of the best young receivers in the league, Greg Jennings. The running game should also get a boost with a good 1-2 punch in Ryan Grant and Brandon Jackson.
Of course, the offense starts with a good offensive line. It doesn't matter if you've got Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, and Steve Smith with Adrian Peterson and Steven Jackson in the backfield if you've got, well, the Packers offensive line.
If they can't get this group together, they will become the new "yeah, but" of the NFL. First it was the Jaguars, then it was the Cardinals, and now it's the Houston Texans.
Green Bay Packers, "Yeah, But" in 2010?
Probably.
