Steve Smith (Panthers) Is Nothing But a Baby

Steve Smith is a jackass. He really is nothing more than a crybaby.

Okay, let's backtrack to his comments after the game yesterday. After the game, reporters surrounded Smith's locker to hear what he had to say about the Panthers second consecutive win, and only their second win of the season.

"We get the win, but I have a limited role," Smith said. "So, obviously, I see this game as showing I'm no longer an asset to this team."

And there is it, that's the part that makes him nothing more than a crybaby jackass.

But wait, it gets better. He was asked a follow-up question, and instead of answering the question, he replied "That's all I got. My name's Steve Smith and I stand by that."

First off, what in the hell does that even mean?

Your name is Steve Smith. Yes, we know your name is Steve Smith. However, what we can no longer figure out is which Steve Smith is the better receiver. You, or the one out in New York. You know that guy, the one actually catching the balls thrown to him and helping his team win games, not crying when he doesn't get the ball.

Did you ever think that you're not getting the receptions you had last year because A) you're on a terrible team, B) you're getting double-teamed, and C) your quarterback couldn't get you the ball if you were five yards away and about six times your normal size.

So here's my suggestion.

Quit being a jackass and instead of whining and crying because you're not getting the ball, be happy that you're team is winning and that the respect you have (as a player) throughout the league is giving other guys an opportunity.

This Steve Smith epitomizes everything that is wrong with the NFL. He cares only about his numbers at the end of the year, and not where the team stands. If he had 100 receptions, 1,200 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns he couldn't care less if the team was 16-0, or 0-16.

Rather than being happy that the team has won, he's bitching about not getting the ball.

It's absolutely disgusting to hear. It's not only about being a baby right now, but it's spitting in the face of every player to come before him and play to win the game, not for the stats. He's spitting in the face of Don Hutson, Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, and as much as it kills me, Hines Ward.

While I think Hines Ward is a dirty player and vastly overrated, he will do everything it takes to win the game for his football team. Smith, on the other hand, cares about himself.

Not the team.

As far as I'm concerned, he's the worst type of player. If I'm a GM of another football team, you couldn't convince me to take him off your hands for a seventh-round pick. He destroys a team and kills the spirits of other players around him.

Either that, or he just punches them.

If John Fox wants to win any more games this year, he'll bench Smith for a month due to conduct detrimental to the team and be done with him. Take a page from Jon Gruden and how he handled Keyshawn Johnson, or Andy Reid and how he handled T.O.

You cannot win with a player like that.
