NFL Rumors and Happenings: Week Six

After a great week of football in the fifth week of this still young NFL season we'll get to the stuff that happens between the games.

We'll start off with a few signings that took place.

According to a news report from Versus, former Patriots linebacker, Junior Seau, has rejoined the team. Seau, who hosts the show "Sports Jobs with Junior Seau" on Versus played four games for the Patriots after coming out of retirement last season.

It has been widely reported in the past few days that Seau was going to return to New England for another season. Seau himself stating that a strong relationship with Head Coach, Bill Belichek as one of the main reasons, along with his familiarity with the system were sure to be the deciding factors.

Not to mention the injury bug has been running rampant in New England this year. He should be able to help out depth-wise, but is not going to "wow" you.

While we're on Junior, we'll move on to someone he should be very familiar with.

It has been reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Ravens will sign former Giant, David Tyree.

Tyree is best known for his miraculous catch against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII to help setup the game-winning touchdown.

Tyree has since stepped back out of the spot light and was recently cut at the beginning of the season by the Giants.

This may take the Ravens out of contention for any trades, but I wouldn't completely rule that out yet.

The Ravens have come up in moves that could land them Kevin Curtis from Philadelphia, and while Curtis has performed terribly this season, he's certainly an upgrade over Tyree.

Speaking of trades, the hot rumor going around in what is the final week before the NFL's trade deadline, is that Terrell Owens is on the block and the Ravens are a possible suitor.

Now, while they signed Tyree, it's Terrell Owens and if you can get him for a lowered price than you have to do it. He's an upgrade over any of the Ravens current receivers by far.

Other reports have Brady Quinn obviously upset in Cleveland. Keep an eye on that as well as unhappy defensive end Julius Peppers in Carolina, and Limas Sweed is reportedly on the block in Pittsburgh.

But as is always the case in the NFL though, not many trades do ever go down at the deadline. Don't get your hopes up. (This isn't the NBA, folks.)

One more little piece of news. Matt Jones, former Jacksonville Jaguar has worked out for the 0-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Tuesday morning.

He was a first round pick of the Jaguars before drugs and off-field problems led to his suspension, and ultimately, his release in March.

The Bucs had numerous drops this past weekend in Philadelphia and that's certainly not a way to boost young Josh Johnson's confidence. (Who impressed me these past two weeks.)

There are several other teams interested in Matt Jones according to league sources. Among these are the Titans, Cowboys, Dolphins, Jets and Bears.
