Fantasy Shiners and Sleepers: Week 6

Here is the Week Six installment of my fantasy shiners and sleepers. Check back each week for more fantasy picks, and throughout the week for your NFL news and rumors.

Quarterbacks

Top
- Donovan McNabb vs Oakland

Did you see the man play this past week after missing the previous two ballgames with fractured ribs. He came back with a vengeance and the competition doesn't get any better. In fact, it gets worse. Look for big numbers out of McNabb again. Jeremy Maclin showed that you can't just double cover Desean Jackson because Maclin can hurt you as well. Don't count out Celek either. Donovan just has too many weapons not to put up a huge week.

Sleeper - Matt Cassel vs Washington

Matt Cassel has shown his signs of being able to lead Kansas City. I think he gets his ultimate chance this Sunday against Washington. I mean, if he can't do it against a free-falling Redskins team, than you can count him out against better opponents.

Running Backs

Top - Cedric Benson vs Houston
He's come a long way since getting cut in Chicago after being the number four overall pick to being the leading rusher in the NFL through Six weeks in the NFL season. In spite of Baltimore not giving up a 100 yard rusher in what seems like an eternity, Benson put an end to that last week. Did I mention Houston is giving up 140 yards per game on the ground? Benson is a lock for big numbers.

Sleeper - Maurice Jones-Drew vs St. Louis

Despite Jones-Drew being all but inactive in the Jaguars offense, this is the week he gets back on track. 125 yards per game on the ground, and 6 touchdowns given up by the Rams so far combined with Jones-Drew being a man on a mission should equal some pretty hefty numbers for pocket hercules.

Wide Receivers

Top
- Braylon Edwards vs Buffalo

He's looking to ressurect his career after being traded out of Cleveland prior to last week. He had a great showing on Monday night in a Jets loss to Miami where he caught two touchdowns. Well, one really, but the other one was called no touchdown on a botched call. I think he can maintain his production for the Jets this weekend.

Sleeper - Jeremy Maclin vs Oakland

As much as I hate to put two players from the same team on my lists, I can't pass this one up. Maclin made it known last week why the Eagles traded up two picks to select him at 19. He had two touchdowns against the lowly Bucs last weekend, and as is the case with McNabb, the competition only gets worse.

Tight Ends

Top - Tony Gonzalez vs Chicago

I know, I know. I've taken him before, but if it's not broken, don't fix it. I won't. He shoudl be able to hit Chicago for some big yards and maybe even a touchdown or two. He's the best pass catching tight end in the game right now, and maybe even ever, and he should flourish again against the Tampa 2 that Chicago runs.
Sleeper - Kellen Winslow vs Carolina

He exploded against a very good Eagles defense last week for two scores. His two scores upped his season total to four, which is tied for tops in the league amongst all receivers. (Yes, including wide receivers.) He's also putting up a little over 50 yards per game, and seems to be the only target for youngster Josh Johnson. Especially with the case of the drops that recently hit Tampa Bay.

Defense

Top - Philadelphia vs Oakland
I'm sorry Oakland fans, but your team is just succeptable to big fantasy points this week. Philadelphia's defense will be focuse on getting after the quarterback, as it always is. Only in this case, even if Russell spots the hot read, he won't be able to complete the pass. Philly should account for a few turnovers and allow a minimal amount of yardage this week.

Sleeper - NY Jets vs Buffalo

After getting sliced and diced at the hands of Ronnie Brown and the Miami Dolphins, a much easier test arrives for Week Six. Buffalo scored a measley three points against the Cleveland Browns, and they just get worse every week. Rex Ryan will not take them lightly after getting embarrassed on national television. Expect him to get the troops going.
