Could Brad Childress Receive a Contract Extension?

According to CBS Sportsline, a new deal is in the works for Minnesota Vikings Head Coach, Brad Childress. A deal is reported to be possible to be done in the next two to three weeks.

Childress was previously a coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Initially in 1999 as the quarterbacks coach, before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator in 2003.

He took the Minnesota Vikings head coaching job in 2006 and has the Vikings off to a red-hot 6-0 start to the 2009 season.

Since going 6-10 in his first season as Vikings Head Coach, he has improved upon each season by two wins going 8-8 in 2007, and 10-6 last season.

He's well on his way to 12-4 and a 2nd consecutive NFC North division title.

This is the 4th season of a five-year contract signed by Childress back in 2006. It was reported earlier in the season that no contract extension talks would take place until after the season, and the Coach Childress was told "Win-or-else".

While nothing has been confirmed, and several sources have been reporting opposite stories, but what is confirmed is that Childress' agent, Bob LaMonte, was in attendance this past Sunday when the Vikings took on the Baltimore Ravens.

Sources close to the team said that he was there "partly to see Childress, and partly to discuss a new deal."

Are the Minnesota Vikings for real? Is Brad Childress deserving of a new contract or is he riding Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson? Those seem to be the biggest questions swirling around in Minnesota this season.

Those questions should be answered in these next two weeks before entering their bye week as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. Both on the road.
