Fantasy Shiners and Sleepers: Week Two

I had a pretty decent Week One in my fantasy predictions. Most were solid picks, but with a few "meh" predictions. Oh well. I guess I'm not a fantasy expert like Matthew Berry. How sad. Anywho, here's Week Two. Make sure you bet the house on these! Don't include the garage though. (You've got to keep something.)

Quarterbacks

Top - Peyton Manning vs Miami

As you may or may not know (you're about to anyway) I think Peyton Manning is the best quarterback in the NFL. I also know that Miami gave up 213 yards through the air, 2 TD's and no picks. Chalk one up for Peyton Manning.

Sleeper - Trent Edwards vs Tampa Bay

Trent Edwards almost pulled off the unthinkable and beat the Patriots on Monday night. He seems to have a good grasp on this no huddle business. (Good, It's not like they have a coordinator to call actual plays.) T.O. plays better. I mean, they gave up 2 long touchdowns to the Cowboys. T.O. will not be outdone by his former team. Book it.

Running Backs

Top - Adrian Peterson vs Detroit

I don't think I need to write anything about this, but I'll suck it up and do it anyway. Adrian Peterson went absolutely nuts last week on the Browns, and well, to be frank, the Lions aren't any better (if at all). I mean, despite giving up 6 TD passes to Drew Brees, the Lions still managed to give up 157 yards on the ground.

Sleeper - Clinton Portis vs St. Louis

St. Louis might be the worst team in the NFL. And according to our Power Rankings, they are. Jason Campbell looked shaky at best last week, he was almost traded during the off-season, so lets just make it a safe bet that Dan Snyder isn't too fond of him. Portis should see the ball early and often, and throw in a few catches.

Wide Receivers

Top - Reggie Wayne vs Miami

I might be taking the easy way out here, but if Peyton's going to be the top quarterback, someone needs to catch it. Reggie lit it up last week with 162 yards and a trip to touchdown city. Expect similar numbers in week two.

Sleeper - Louis Murphy vs Kansas City

Look, any team that gives up 38 points and over 400 yards of offense to the BALTIMORE RAVENS, is not good. Murphy broke out Monday night against a much better San Diego team. He accounted for 87 yards and a score, and if he could've held on a second longer would've had two touchdowns.

Tight Ends

Top - Tony Gonzalez vs Carolina

Don't fix what isn't broken. I picked him last week, and I'm sticking with him in week two. Carolina struggled immensely against the Eagles and I don't see a bonce back. Brent Celek quietly had 6 catches last week and Tony Gonzalez is much more explosive in the passing game than Mr. Celek.

Sleeper - Vernon Davis vs Seattle

I'm in the right game here at least. John Carlson for Seattle is no joke, but I feel confident in Vernon Davis. Widely believed to be a bust (which the argument can be made). I just believe his maturity is truly developing and showing now that he has been named a team captain by Coach Mike Singletary. He's going to have to be a big part of this offense in 2009.

Defense

Top - Tennessee vs Houston

Houston was shut down by the NY Jets, but the Titans have a better defense. This is not by any means a knock on the Jets (I like their defense and Rex Ryan is a great fit for them). I just like the match-up. Tennessee held the defending Champs in check on opening night and have had 10 full days to prepare. They should be more than ready.

Sleeper - San Francisco vs Seattle

Second time this game comes up this week. San Francisco shut down the pass happy offense in Arizona, and it's a damn good offense. Fitz and Boldin were held in check, and Kurt Warner looked, well, old (Finally). Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck opened up with 2 picks against St. Louis, but was able to rebound against a bad team. They won't be able to bounce back against the Singletary-led 49ers.
