Josh Cribbs Could Get New Deal By End of the Week

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the Cleveland Browns and Josh Cribbs could come to an agreement by the end of next week.

A new deal would not be an extension, but would instead replace Cribbs' existing deal.

The Browns have already said they plan to use the electrifying return man in about 50-60 percent of the offensive snaps in 2010, rather than the 40 percent he saw in 2009.

The deal is expected to get done during the scouting combine in Indianapolis. A lot of agents see it as an opportunity to catch all the most important guys in one place and makes it easier to hammer out a deal.

Cribbs is reportedly asking for $10 million in guaranteed money, while the Browns are offering $5 million. They'll probably wind up compromising around $6-7 million and a base salary of $3-4 million.

If Sebastian Janikowsi, a kicker, is worth that much, than Cribbs is certainly worth that number.
